A few weeks ago I received the most beautiful email from this client who wanted to surprise her boyfriend with cupcakes. Explaining how they randomly found love while traveling, she asked for the surfboard cupcakes to be delivered in one of the surfing capitals of the world, San Clemente.

"The cupcakes were all I expected and more. I can´t thank you enough for the effort and dedication put into them."

I heart San Clemente!

Midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, San Clemente has become a personal favorite beach destination. The mile long beach is far enough from the big cities to preserve its integrity, and the Spanish town is just lovely. And a visit is never complete without a late afternoon snack at Pedro's Tacos!

Surfing Monkey Cupcake Tower julie desmeules 9:18 PM

In the middle of this really hot summer, how perfect is it to celebrate with a monkey themed beach party? This is exactly what my lovely client planned for her son's 7th birthday celebration. The top cake is banana with hazelnut and chocolate swiss meringue buttercream and the cupcakes are vanilla, chocolate, and of course banana! The cake and cupcakes are displayed on a 5 tier cupcake tower.

This order was a last minute one but the tiny surfboard toppers were ready just in time to ride the vanilla frosting wave this morning! Grab your favorite and... surf's up!

"Being a huge dessert fan and a previous employee of a bakeshop, I was more than satisfied with your cupcakes. I've had my fair share of Sprinkles, Yummy Cupcakes, Big Sugar Bakeshop and plenty of others and they don't beat your custom designs and excellent taste. The filling inside was a delightful surprise and the frosting was not too sweet, not too plain but just right! Finally, the cake itself was moist and just golden enough on the outside that I fell in love with it (moisture is the key to a perfect cupcake in my eyes!) Thanks again for all your help and for letting us order at the last minute. I really appreciate all you did for us!"
