Football, train and Mickey

I would like to start this post by saying THANK YOU to all our clients and readers as Blue Cupcake celebrates it's 3rd anniversary! Three years of cupcakes and cakes, farmer's markets, deliveries, trip to the stores, answering emails and retuning calls, learning and meeting amazing people... Not to forget, LONG hours of work and many sleepless nights! But looking back, it is all well worth the ride!

Also, a big thanks to everyone who came to see us at the Cupcake Challenge last week. It was an incredibly busy week for us, and the event was just as crazy! So many people, so many bakeries and chefs, food bloggers... Just to give you an idea, we served 1300 cupcakes in less than 2 hours. So much fun!!

And now the pictures! Here are some "boy" themed cakes, cupcakes and desserts we did in the past few weeks. This first one was for a birthday party, you've guessed it, during Super Bowl weekend. The colors are based on the invitation.

This second cake was for a train party. Our amazingly talented intern and I worked together on this cake, trying out new techniques and ideas to create something original. Special thanks to Ernae for inventing the "gravel" tool!

And those last images were provided by our client (Photography: Robe Photo), who celebrated his son first birthday this past weekend at The COOP in Studio City. The cake, cupcakes and desserts are inspired by the famous Mickey Mouse. Since we always do our own twist on licensed characters, we suggested to make a figurine of the birthday boy wearing Mickey's ears. It gives the cake a very personal touch, and a sugar figurine as a keepsake!

"We were overjoyed when we saw the amazing creation of our son's birthday cake!
The beautifully crafted creations were matched with delicious flavors
that made our tongues very satisfied and smiles from ear to ear.
Simply awesome!!!
Thank you for the wonderful service from beginning to our last bite."

Surfboard Cupcakes

This order was a last minute one but the tiny surfboard toppers were ready just in time to ride the vanilla frosting wave this morning! Grab your favorite and... surf's up!
"Being a huge dessert fan and a previous employee of a bakeshop, I was more than satisfied with your cupcakes. I've had my fair share of Sprinkles, Yummy Cupcakes, Big Sugar Bakeshop and plenty of others and they don't beat your custom designs and excellent taste. The filling inside was a delightful surprise and the frosting was not too sweet, not too plain but just right! Finally, the cake itself was moist and just golden enough on the outside that I fell in love with it (moisture is the key to a perfect cupcake in my eyes!) Thanks again for all your help and for letting us order at the last minute. I really appreciate all you did for us!"

Baseball Cupcakes

When I was asked to make birthday cupcakes for a baseball fan turning 49, I though it would be fun to bring back some memories by creating a retro baseball look. The Phillies logo is the one from the 70's, and the brown wood baseball bat completes the look.
"Thank you so very much for making those amazing cupcakes. Your cupcakes are little pieces of art. They really were delicious!"
