This cake was born after being up working non stop on different projects for almost 48 hours... The client had sent a picture of "quilling" art work, and since it was my first time seeing this type of art, I really had no idea where to start. So Ernae, who was right there with me for another long night, said she had taken a quilling class many years back. So here we are cutting strips of fondant, rolling and twisting, and voila! This is super simple if I compare to all the
amazing quilling masterpieces you can see online, but I really like the effect on the cake.

I added a quilling detail on the belt of the little girl, and her skirt is done using the same technique as the ruffled "paper" flowers on the cake |
