Surfing Monkey Cupcake Tower julie desmeules 9:18 PM

In the middle of this really hot summer, how perfect is it to celebrate with a monkey themed beach party? This is exactly what my lovely client planned for her son's 7th birthday celebration. The top cake is banana with hazelnut and chocolate swiss meringue buttercream and the cupcakes are vanilla, chocolate, and of course banana! The cake and cupcakes are displayed on a 5 tier cupcake tower.

I Love Mini Cupcakes julie desmeules 9:02 PM

What is so special about mini cupcakes? After all, it is the same cake recipe, the same frosting... So what is it? Yes, it's all about the size. There is simply something irresistible about this bite-size treat. First, they are so small you can have more than one (that's very good news when you can't decide between two flavors!) and they are as cute as a cupcake can be.

Here are a few examples of mini cupcakes recently created for birthday parties. The first picture is a box of monkeys and flowers mini cupcakes for a little girl's second birthday, and the second one is once again a box of 24 mini cupcakes for a spring theme birthday celebration. Enjoy!

More monkey cupcakes, this time with a grand display! The cupcakes are a mix of vanilla, coconut, banana and chocolate. The top coconut cake is decorated with a hand made baby monkey in a jungle setting. This monkey cupcake tower was custom made for Barrett first birthday party. Happy birthday!

The challenge was to give a new twist to the classic monkey cupcakes. I gave each little monkey a different facial expression that hopefully got the little monkeys (the kids that is!) smiling! The bananas are hand made as well, and I couldn't resist peeling some of them. Happy birthday Max!
